Power Thought Cards

Activity: Pick a Power Thought Card from the vast selection (or an inspirational quote from the internet) and think about it.

-What does it mean to you?
-How can you relate to it?
-What about it stands out and what does it make you think about?
-How it is true for you, where you are now, or where you want to be in life?

**Then, in a blog post, no less than 50 words, please address the quote. You can use the "think about it" prompts above, or just go any direction you choose...

(One may ask, "Why are we doing this", which I am thankful someone asked. This activity has two-fold benefits. One, as we travel through life, the more we OWN what we do, how we react, and the events we choose to be apart of, the more we will experience life at its fullest. The second reason for this activity is to help us dive into the writing process called BRAINSTORM. We are brainstorming why having a bucket list even matters, because it does....a great deal)

Here are my TWO examples BELOW:

"There is a rhythm and flow to Life, and I am part of it. Life supports me and brings to me only good and positive experiences, I trust the process of Life to bring me my highest good."

Quote Response:
I feel this quote embodies so much of how I feel. I get really down when tough things happen and often internalize it and it creates more anger and resentment. This quote helps me focus on the idea that all things happen so that something better can happen later. The tough parts of life help us appreciate the good. Life has a flow and I always look back and say, "Well, I can see the value in that particular experience" and I know it happened because it will help me grow.  While events may not be seen as good and positive at the time, I must tell myself, "This too shall pass" knowing that with my "eye on the prize", I will make it far in life and be the best role model I can be.

"Each age has its own special joys and experiences. I am always the perfect age for where I am in Life."

Quote Response:
People always hackle me about my age. It is usually in one of three categories: either I need to act to my age, which doesn't make sense to me, or I need to feel "old" because of where my age is (almost like it is a death sentence), or lastly, that I don't look my age; therefore, there is a problem. In addressing the first category, acting my age, I am not even sure what that means as I act what is according to how I feel. I work with young people, so it is natural that I connect with young people in their environment and what is familiar with them. I LIKE saying funny things like "lol" in a joking manner, it adds some humor; it doesn't mean I am not being an adult, rather, I am being the best "adult" I can be for the position I have adopted in my career. I want to address the third remark I often hear. It is strange to me that people like to "dis" me because I don't look my age. In times when we are so diverse, in both our physical attributes, demeanor, and life choices, it seems that looking a certain age has no picture attached to it. I eat healthy and take life by the horns, therefore, I am young.
