Example: Turning Graphic O's to Rough Draft

Sample “Bucket Life List” INTRO & Questions answered

Each year, in America alone, hundreds of thousands of dollars are spent on entertainment. (FACT) People search for ways to get thrills so that life has meaning. (TRANSITION) There are so many adventures to partake in that it is hard to keep track of what I would find invigorating. (TRANSITION) That being said, I decided to keep a list that tracks all those things I wish to accomplish before I die. (THESIS) I am a lover of words and music; therefore, the notion of chalking lyrics onto the sidewalk tickles me pink. There are the obvious accomplishments for me I wish to accomplish, such as standing up against war, giving a homeless man a real meal, and sleeping on the hard ground to support those without beds. One more personal endeavor I want to achieve is crying without shame as we live in a world where it is not ok to cry.  Forgiving my mother is something I have always wanted, in order to give my soul peace. This may happen at the same time as the shameless crying.  My next one I want to mention is a little less heavy: I would like to challenge some of my idiosyncrasies by throwing a camper party and not cleaning it up right away, being prim and proper for one day, visit every different denomination at least once. (LIST) These very wide array of things may seem unorthodox, but they are a small sampling of the things I aim to do, per my bucket list, before I die.  (THESIS FINALE)

(INTRO) As Americans we whine and complain about the direction our world is headed. I feel that instead of whining and complaining, it is important to get out and do something. I want to find some small way to stand up against war, even if it means having to put myself in challenging situations. (BUCKET LIST ITEM) I am fully aware that war sometimes is the best answer in order for peace to occur, but I want to complete this procurement (different word for accomplishment or mission) because I have seen the evil elements that war can sometimes create. (Question 1)  I came up with this idea because I have had several conversations with people about the world being more at war now than in past history. (Question 2) There are definitely some elements that could go wrong with my desire to stand up against war. First, I could get into legal trouble, which could jeopardize my position as a leader of young people. Also, because so many people look up to me, I have to be careful about my execution. Knowing the result of the WTO riots, it is really easy for the “right purpose” to go wrong. Safety, security, and integrity are all at stake. (Question 3) At this time, I can’t say exactly when would be best to complete this mission as I am still building my identity in the realm of social activism. I presume that I will know when the exact right time is, as will many other people who equally wish to accomplish this mission. (Question 4) As a result of standing up against war I could end out in a very sticky situation. Knowing this, I need to make sure and stick to my decision until the very end. I will not be able to bail when the going gets tough, and it will get tough. (Question 5) Before I were to begin this task, I would need to make sure all my ducks are in a row and that I have all the facts and have some verbal tools/weapons to guide me. I would need to assure that my family is safe as I wouldn’t want them to receive consequences to my actions. (Question 6: I would normally expand on this a little more). Then Question 7 & 8. Make sure to transition into the next item you wish to discuss.
